Problems.

The many problems I had throughout the process of the animation was when it was time to export the image. I had forgot to change it to "page", It had automatically been on "selection" therefore I had to restart my image whenever I encountered that mistake.

Another was when I lacked in motivation of creating a picture of Po riding on a scooter. It was too difficult for me to succeed, so I just got a picture from Google, the picture of Po on a scooter does not belong to me, it belongs to the rightful owner. The image was originally a GIF file but I converted it into a JPEG so I could use it in my animation.

Process of animation.

The process of my animation is bascially Po from the teletubbies which represents Veritas because of his colour is cycling from top to bottom with the letters which form Veritas behind it. Throughout the whole process I had used 67 frames all together.

First I had placed a photo of po, I couldn't draw po because it was really hard when I tried to attempt it. The I had exported it as a .png file and moved onto my next one. I had then put a text "V" slowly coming out from the right hand side behind the the picture of Po, I had continuously did the same thing with the other letters with stars in between them to have spacing so they wont be bunched up. I had also placed a sun at the top for some decoration too. In each frame the sun is moving as well. As all the letters and stars were displayed, I then made Po go up and around in a route followed by the other letters and stars. I had specifically made the route go in a circle so when Po and the letters exit it would be much easier instead of making difficult turns which will be time consuming. I made sure each star and letter were right in lined with each other from behind so that it wont look messy.

As it did it's route I made the exit similar to the entrance, Po and the letters would just disapear. I did this for every letter and star. After that was done I made the star get larger and eventually splat onto the screen for some effect. I had just played around with the tools while I did my animation, I had gained some knowledge while doing this animation.

This is a sample throughout the progression of my animation:

Year 9 Still to moving assessment task.

Describe what software you used and why you chose it.
For my animation I chose the software Inkscape for my assignment. I chose it becuase it was quick and easy to use for my animation. It wasnt complicated throughout the process and its user friendly.
What image format were you saving your work in during development of the frames?
The image format i saved my images during the development of my animation was SVG
What image format did you save your frames as?
I had saved them as .png
What frame rate were you aiming for?
I was for a frame rate of 100+
What is the final size of your animation?
The final size of my animation is 1.05MB

Digital Art.... Real Art?

                                                  http://artpad.art.com/artpad/painter/
The features I liked about artpad.com is that you can change the brush sizes and replay over what you had painted.
Art definitions:
Ahromatic -
Black, white and greys. Artwork that is executed without color.

Acrylic - Thicker and stronger than tempera or watercolor paint, Acrylic is a water-based "plastic" paint.

Albumen Print - This printing process is used in photography printing processes. Egg whites are used in the emulsion.

Alternative Process - This photography term covers approximately 35 different processes for the final unconventional effect.

Armature - A structure used beneath something else for support. For example, a sculptor might create a clay sculpture with a wood or wire armature beneath it as support. Think about the frame of a house being constructed before all of the brick or siding is built on top.

Artists Proof - A small group of outstanding prints for the artists use which have been set aside from the edition prints.
Is digital art a valid form of art?Art is normally an opinion in it's self. Some consider music or dance an art form while other wouldn't. But an opinion was brought to my attention today that some people consider digital art, weather it be drawn works or photos that have been manipulated and taken useing computer technology. Someone claimed that it lacked "human touch" and failed to have that link to the soul. But if that is the case, is a poem that has been typed on the computer and posted through say an art forum or a website not art? Someone took the time to make something beautiful, as to weather others find it beautiful is another matter. But someone has made a creation, is it art or not? after all they did not sit and touch their computer screene or mark the screen up with a red pen. No human touched it, no person can reach out and feel it with their fingers. But isn't it still art?
The claim was that art on a computer relied too heavily on a programs ability to take a simple skill and turn it into work equivilent of Da Vinci or Picasso. I'm not saying anything against the classics, they are wonderful, but it requires skill to use a program and produce a work just as it takes a different skill to take a brush and put color to canvas.
What are some of the advanatges that digital paint and draw programs offer over the traditional methods (canvas and paint)

The many advatages of digital painting is that you can undo and redo your mistakes unlike traditional painting there is no option, it is hard to undo. Some tools such as pencils and charcoal allow you to erase. Some may let you paint over your mistakes – oil painting. But they are nothing compared to the control given in the digital painting. Another is Layers. Digital softwares let you organise your layers. This allows for greater control in terms of edits and corrections. This cant be made using traiditonal mathods. Colour pallete  is another great advantage, you may use a wide variety of colours that can contain at least a million colours. Another great extent is that you can choose your colours accurately unline traditioanal painting methods. The last advantage is canvas size. In digital painting the canvas size in only limited depending on your computer memory and size.  To an extent, traditional medium lets you choose large canvas sizes but like with digital medium, you cannot change the size half way through you artwork – you will have to decide and stick to a size once you start in traditional mediums.

Digital Media.

First lets see if we can list how many forms of digital media surronds us (you should be able to come up wih at least 5)
  • Digital Television
  • Internet (web)
  • Computers
  • Video games
  • Video Cameras
What number system is digital data based on? What two digits are used to code all digtal data?
A digital computer represents data using the binary numeral system. Text, numbers, pictures, audio, and nearly any other form of information can be converted into a string of bits, or binary digits, each of which has a value of 1 or 0. The most common unit of storage is the byte, equal to 8 bits.

What is a bit? What is a byte?
The byte, is a unit of digital information in computing and telecommunications, that most commonly consists of eight bits.
A bit or binary digit is the basic unit of information in computing and telecommunications; it is the amount of information stored by a digital device or other physical system that exists in one of two possible distinct states. These may be the two stable states of a flip-flop, two positions of an electrical switch, two distinct voltage or current levels allowed by a circuit, two distinct levels of light intensity, two directions of magnetization or polarization.

What is "sampling rate"? Find an image that explains how how sampling works (wikipedia is a good resource here... you can place these images in your blog)
The sampling rate, sample rate, or sampling frequency defines the number of samples per second (or per other unit) taken from a continuous signal to make a discrete signal. For time-domain signals, the unit for sampling rate is hertz. The inverse of the sampling frequency is the sampling period or sampling interval, which is the time between samples

How does colour depth (Colour Depth) or bit depth effect the appearance of an image? Find some images to illustrate the effect.
Color Depth refers to the number of bits (binary digits) of computer memory that are used to store color information for an image (typically a bitmap) or for a device (such as a screen).
The greater the color depth, the more colors may be stored, and this also determines how many different colors the image or device may simultaneously contain/display

Colour Depth effects both still and video digital media. Sampling rate only effects video but not still media. Can you explain.
Sampling rate only affects video as it takes the sample per second, a video is a moving image and therefore the sampling rate would take the images per second. However colour depth only affects still and video digital media. Nothing is produced in still images and therefore a sampling rate is not affected.
