Computer Algorithms.

Algorithms - A process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, esp. by a computer.
Pseudocode - In computer science and numerical computation, pseudocode is a compact and informal high-level description of the operating principle of a computer program or other algorithm.
Machine Language - computer language: a programming language designed for use on a specific class of computers.
High level computer language - A high-level programming language is a programming language with strong abstraction from the details of the computer.
Flowchart - A diagram of the sequence of operations in a computer program or an accounting system.
Sequence - A particular order in which related events, movements, or things follow each other.
Selection - The action or fact of carefully choosing someone or something as being the best or most suitable.
Repition - The action of repeating something that has already been said or written.

Then with the aid of class discussions, write an algorithm for the following processes;

Evidence of research into multimedia presentation tools.

Notaland:

Versatility -
  •  Allows you to add text. The text can be re-sized, different colours and fonts.
  • Allows you to add pictures. The pictures can either be added by your hard drive or from different search engines including; google, flickr etc.
  • Allows you to redo and undo your mistakes.
  • You may draw free hand with the stencil tool
  • Add multiple pages.
Ease of use -
  • Easy access if in case you need to do a powerpoint, if you do not have the program installed onto your computer.
  • All necessary tools are already there available to use.
  • Set out plain and simple.
  • Not complicated to use
Collaboration -
  • There is a button that indicates "add more people". I suggest that this button allows you to add more people to make the presentation. This is a great way for doing group activites as it helps make it easier with everyone doing something all at once than just one person doing the presentation.

Broadband Research.

  1. What is   broadband?Of or using signals over a wide range of frequencies in high-capacity telecommunications, esp. as used for access to the Internet.
  2. Outline the methods of delivery of broadband (wireless, cable, ADSL and fibre)? Identify the speed of each method.ADSL - ADSL is a digital connection to the internet that can run up to 30 times faster than a standard modem.
Wireless - WLANs offer maximum theoretical bandwidth of 11 Mbps. 802.11a and 802.11g WLANs offer theoretical bandwidth up to 54 Mbps. (In contrast, typical wired Ethernets run at 100 Mbps.)
Cable - Cable modem speeds vary widely. While cable modem technology can theoretically support up to about 30 Mbps, most providers offer service with between 1 Mbps and 6 Mbps bandwidth for downloads, and bandwidth between 128 Kbps and 768 Kbps for uploads.
    Fibre -
  3. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each method.
    ADSL:Advantages:
    - Uninterrupted connection
    - Simulataneous data and voice transmission
    - faster speeds over ISDN and dial-up
    - Faster speeds, cheaper costs
    Disadvantages:
    - DSL efficiency is related to distance. The farther you are away from the provider, the more unreliable the service becomes.
    -
People who need to upload large amounts of data such as corporate database, video, large audio files and images will not find DSL attractive though it is fast.
    -
There is no standardization. Each company comes with its own equipment. So if you leave one city to go to the other, you may have to purchase a new set of equipment from the new company.
  4. Give examples of broadband providers and identify the cost.
    Optus:Naked broadband plans -
Cost: $79.99 per month = standard modem + Up to 500GB
Up to 500GB naked broadband250GB peak + 250GB off peak
Speed limited for both peak and off peak to 128kbps once peak or total data exceeded.
Standard modem included, or upgrade to a WiFi modem $120.
    Telstra Big Pond:
    Big Pong Elite 200GB Liberty
Usage allowance:  200GB (slower than 256kbps)
    Plan Term: 24 months
    Cost: from $69.95
    iiNet:
    ADSL2+ Home - 1
    Peak + Off peak: 100GB + 100GB
    Plan Speed: ADSL2+ Speeds
    Plan Price: $49.95
  5. The Federal Government is thinking of rolling out a national broadband network. Research teh NBN and find out.
    a. What method of delivery it will use? The network would use fibre to the premises (FTTP), fixed wireless and satellite technologies to provide connections. This will be the first time, in Australia that retail service providers are going to be able to access infrastructure that is not owned or operated by a competitors.
    b. The expected speed? Up to gigabyte per second.
    c. The expected costs? The expected costs would include investing $43 billion on the NBN plan. Although the NBN co corporate plan confirmed that the total capital expenditure for the project would be estimated only $35.9 billion. Which is less than the originality thought. It is believe that most of this money will be from tax payers.

The CPU.

  1. What is the function of the CPU?
The hardware of a computer is the thing that makes the computer run. Without it the computer is just an empty shell. Each hardware has a CPU, which is classified according to the power and its capabilities. Some factors of the CPU of a computer which makes it capable of things others ’t, are the memory, which is measured in gigabytes, the RAM (or Random Access Memory), the processor chip i.e. Pentium chip and the motherboard.
  2. What was the name of the first CPU?
    Intel 4004
  3. Describe how the speed of the CPU's has changed.
  4. What does MIPS measure?
It is a method of measuring the raw speed of a computer's processor.
  5. Reaserch (Google it) what is a dual core processor, what is multitasking and how do the two work together.
A dual core processor is a CPU with two seperate cores on the same die, each with its own cache. It's the equivalent of getting two microprocessor in one.
Multitasking is the simultaneous execution of more than one program or task by a single computer processor.
As software developers are coming out with more advanced applications, tasks that computers can perform these days are getting more and more complicated. While you had to go for a coffee brake when burning a CD on Windows 3.11, you can burn a DVD, listen to online radio, and play graphics-intensive games at the same time today. Multitasking is as natural today as breathing, but it also requires more power and speed than ever before.
  6. Benefits of what the Intel Atom Processor offers to mobile devices.- A new range of power effiency devices.
    - Highly integrated application processor
    - Smaller, more compact design
    - Lower power option
    - Better performance and increased system responsiveness

    The World of Multimedia.

    1. Where do you commonly use multimedia? in your daily life, list as many as you can.- Home
      - School
      - Workplaces
    2. What multimedia device or service would you find it hardest to be without?I could not live without my laptop. It's my life (literally), I store nearly everything onto my laptop, starting from music, videos, movies, school documents, EVERYTHING. I search the web with my laptop every single day and communicate with other people. Without my laptop I wouldnt not what I would be doing right now. (lol)
    3. The video on future directions (third video) has already to some extent come true. What multimedia technologies displayed in this video are already commonly used?
    4.  Do you see any advantages/disadvantages to the use of such multimedia technology?

    Sypnosis.

The goal and purpose of our video is to create our own version of the music video.

    17611.

On Friday the 17th Laura and I started to film with the help of our other cast/member Jo-Raelene and Erica. For our film we had originally planned on making a sequel to the first song, but decided to not go on with that plan because we didnt have enough scenes.

First we had filmed the beggining scenes for the song "you & i" at a park. We made sure that it was the evening so we can have a good effect on the video. We then filmed some scenes of the music video inside (we filmed in the order of the music video). We had also filmed the sqeual which is "dont cry" by park bom, which she also sang "you and i".
